About Medicine Wheel Ride:
Medicine Wheel Ride is an Indigenous women-led motorcycle group dedicated to raising awareness and funds to support families affected by Missing and Murdered Indigenous People (MMIP).
We are committed to social justice, advocacy, and community empowerment. We
organize rides and events across the country to bring attention to this critical issue and to unite communities in the fight for justice.
Position Overview:
Medicine Wheel Ride is seeking a highly motivated and organized Administrative Assistant to join our team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for social justice and a commitment to supporting Indigenous communities.
This is a remote work position, preferably based in South Dakota, and the role will provide vital administrative support to our leadership team, helping to coordinate events, manage communications, and ensure the
smooth operation of our organization.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide administrative support to the Medicine Wheel Ride leadership team, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and organizing travel arrangements.

Assist in the planning and coordination of events, including the annual Medicine Ride Sturgis.

Manage and respond to emails, phone calls, and other communications on behalf of theorganization.

Maintain and organize digital files and records.

Assist with social media management and content creation.

Prepare reports, presentations, and other documents as needed.

Coordinate with volunteers and supporters to ensure successful execution of events andinitiatives.

Perform other administrative tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
-
Proven experience as an administrative assistant, virtual assistant, or in a similar role.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides).

Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

Experience with social media management is a plus.

Grant writing and grant management experience, including the ability to manage grantapplications, reporting, and compliance.

Passion for social justice and advocacy for Indigenous communities.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Understanding of the issues surrounding Missing and Murdered Indigenous People(MMIP) is highly desirable.

Flexibility to travel for events, if required.
Compensation:
This is a contract position with an annual salary up to the amount of $45,000 and a possible$500 per month health benefits stipend.
Contractor Status and IRS Reporting:
-
This is an independent contractor position. The contractor is responsible for all tax
obligations, including self-employment taxes. The contractor must submit a completed
Form W-9 prior to the commencement of work.

Contractor payments will be made monthly upon receipt of an invoice. All invoices must be submitted by the last day of each month, and payment will be made within 15 days of
receipt. -
All payments to the contractor will be reported to the IRS using Form 1099-NEC if total compensation exceeds $600 in a calendar year.
