What is MMIW?

Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women

MMIW is a movement that advocates for the end of violence against Native women. It also seeks to draw attention to the high rates of disappearances and murders of Native people, particularly women and girls. The MMIW movement exists because a large number of Native women go missing and are murdered each year compared to women from other groups.
